BA BRIDE/Solution

 

It needs another direction. 

I came across a website that has a huge collection of flight safety instructions/information from a wide range of different aircraft. Tackling this problem from a different angle should help the direction.

The idea is to try to illustrate imagery from the safety instructions, combine this with the tone of voice from the musical. 

As This started, I've incorporated a wedding dress into the illustration. More humor!

BA Bride/Airline Safety

 

I found a 'How to create your own' safety illustrations, giving a step by step guide of this process. I found this could come in handy if this technique was to be used in the imagery for the BA Bride brief.

BA BRIDE/Ticket Anyone?

The tickets could be in a very similar format as a boarding pass used at an airport, this idea could then be spread across onto a range of different products given or sold at the theater where the musical would be shown.

British Airways 

I noticed National Express advertised different events such as Glastonbury or gigs being played by top artists, and that they would issue discounted travel tickets if you were to buy tickets through them, however this is obvious that they could make money in this process and that advertising this musical on the British Airways website would be slightly mental, but it is an idea! And online advertising is a must I think.

BA BRIDE/Blerb

Well I think its time I hit a wall with this one. The idea with this is to have type, created by lipstick is applied onto this graphic, to represent Virginia Branson writing on the passenger window of an airplane. The type could be specific lyrics of a track in the musical or the title of each track of in the musical. This could then be put across a range of promo material.

 

 

The information at the bottom is displayed as though it would be a safety message printed on a window of a plane.

I found an online type system enabling me to write in different styles of media, such as lipstick, chalk, and black marker. This didn't give me the freedom of creating the boldness or the detail I was perusing, however it gave me an idea that if applied correctly, could give me the type style I am after. 

 

 

BA BRIDE/Range

 

As this is progressing the colour is defining itself. It is based on the British Airways pallett which is what this musical does throughout.

 

 

Range. The range could be spread using different titles of the tracks used in this musical.

BA Bride/In Flight

 

The title of the musical has started to take on the cheesiness of what would look like another airline identity. Also adding the lipstick to represent 'I' gave it the twist.

 

Combining two elements together gave an interesting visual, such as a passenger window of an airplane and the luggage.

BA BRIDE/Ideas/Development

 

Moving on from the message board development, Other imagery was put forward from the various signage and symbols associated at an airport or on-board an airline. I tried making a connection between that and the musical which seemed to work quite well. 

One problem that arose was that over time the visuals of the actors/actresses would change over time and that using photographic imagery could confuse things, which is why illustrations could be use to represent the characteristics of these which would not need to change.

 

BA BRIDE/Development

After my conversations with Mike Hume, I started to list some initial ideas that could be produced for this brief. As this was happening I found myself automatically drawing up visuals that i assossiated with Airlines, airports, signage etc. which could define the typeface or layout that could drive the project forward and beyond.

 

 

One of which was the message board seen at an airport displaying the flights schedule. And began to put forward some contextual research.

 

 

 

This idea was put forward to some visuals, and hit the first problem.

This is a comedy musical.
